Oh I love the idea of stitching belts for your sons! It really is not as intimidating as it seems. There are so many wonderful belt finishers out there so I recommend that once you find one you like (here is one of my favorites: https://hilltopleather.com/ ) I would talk with them about their measurement requirements. Typically you will measure from the belt buckle to the hole most used on the belt for sizing and the amount needed to stitch.
