The Super Side Note:
Super Models, Severance, protein powder, virtual besties and needlepoint a la Target. The gangs all here.....
It’s been a minute but “The Super Side Note” is back and brimming with allthethings. Between the holidays, a new baby in our house (!) and the winter ailments that seem to run rampant through any household this time of year, I am so excited to be back and sharing some of my absolute favorite things as of late.

An extra warm welcome to anyone new here—I'm so glad you’ve joined! While this is mostly a needlepoint blog, the #SuperSideNote is where I share everything beyond the stitches (you can find the origin story linked here). Your time is valuable, and my goal is to make every moment you spend here feel like time well spent.
Ok let’s get into the good stuff….
Less Toddler Leftovers…
In an attempt to fuel my body more intentionally (and not just eat my toddlers’ leftovers after each meal) I recently found this recipe and have been making it every morning. My energy has dramatically improved (take that as you wish from someone with a 2 month old) and I am definitely more full, longer.
Usually I prefer something I can grab and go for breakfast, but the few minutes it takes me to whip this is up is more than worth it (plus it packs 50g + of protein).
Mix (1) cup non-fat Greek yogurt (plain or vanilla are perfect) with (1) scoop of protein powder (my absolute favorite from this small business)
Add 2 tbsp chia seeds
Add 1 tbsp of PB for extra protein (optional)
Top with this granola (my go-to) & a whatever fruit you have on hand (berries and bananas are so good with this)
Enjoy!
P.S. Screenshot this recipe and save it to your phone for later!
Super Models & Severance
I first heard about The Super Models (see here) from
and immediately added it to my “to be watched” list. This four part docuseries follows the most iconic supermodels of our time: Naomi, Cindy, Linda and Christy as they tell their story behind the look, fame, power, legacy and bond forged throughout their careers. Equal parts captivating, inspiring and nostalgic I absolutely adored this. You will be singing this song all week (!)My husband and I stumbled upon Season 1 of Apple TV’s Severance last year and were instantly hooked. This show follows a small group of co-workers who have (at their own will) “severed” their work and personal life memories. Meaning, they can only recall work at work and their personal life outside of work. Season 2 was released this January and it has been an absolute roller coaster. If a good thriller and low-key love story are what you seek, look no further. New episodes debut every Friday.
Repeat Offending: Peptide Serum & Leggings
I am forever in pursuit of trying new skincare products that make my skin look and feel healthier and the past few months have been quite a challenge between loads of dry heat (thank you Northeast). I recently tried PMD Beauty’s Hydrating Peptides Serum and loved it after first use. Applied to clean skin, my skin drinks it right up.
Bonus points? It is HSA/FSA eligible (you read that right) and so is my #1 skincare tool for 2+ years: the PMD Clean Brush.
P.S.- PMD code Emily30 saves you 30% off your entire purchase
As of late I’ve been steady rocking these leggings - being only 2 months postpartum, my shape has been fluctuating so much and I don’t feel super comfortable in a ton of bottoms. I love and live in these leggings which can be as casual as I want or dressed up with an oxford shirt and faux fur vest. Fabulous quality considering the price point.
And in Needlepoint News….
SO many fabulous things to catch up on! Earlier this month I sat down with my dear friend
and we chatted about the most important relationship in needlepoint…the relationship between stitcher and finisher. We even created a little checklist for all readers to download to help with your finishing process. Read more by clicking below ⬇️ (you can also listen to us read it to you!). Amanda is a fabulous follow if you are curious about learning to do your own needlepoint finishing.Stop, Collaborate and Listen
How stitchers & finishers can avoid missteps and get exactly what they want, together.
I then had the privilege to sit down with Allie and Claire (linked here) - the heart and soul behind The Stitch Needlepoint Club. Their story is so inspiring and real and will make you want to DM your virtual bestie immediately

You can watch our full conversation and Instagram LIVE by clicking the button below ⬇️! We really did have the *best* time. Don’t mind my blunder as my camera was facing the opposite way when the LIVE began. LOL!
This past month also ushered in some very exciting news here at The Finishing School Blog…The Finishing School Diary is finally coming to life and will be available this March. Launch date coming very soon but get to know more about the project by reading here:
And last but not least…..does Target Needlepoint!? Shop all the supporting evidence here:
