Emily — I have been stitching so long now, but yes……it can be intimidating to walk in, understand what you need to buy to get started, what the right project is. Not sure that is addressed often enough by some LNS. And you also gave great tips on “making the trek”, or “making a day of it”. Well written and keep it up! I live within 15 min. of 3 great shops now (spoiled), but am moving to a “needlepoint desert” soon, so I’m kitting up. And yes — support your local needlepoint stores! Keep them in business.

Hi Beth! I agree! Supporting our local shops (even if they aren’t local to us), is so very important. I’m so thankful you are here following along and wish you the best of luck as you prepare for your move 🤍

I stopped at Fireside on the way home from a trip and they were fantastic. The thread selection is amazing. Its about 1.5 hrs trip but Im considering a "field trip" if just to revel in all the choices.

Isn’t their selection amazing? And the staff knowledge is equally so - always worth the “field trip”. They are hosting an event with Stitch Philly in August which will be fun 🥨🪡

I do feel that when I order from small shops online that I'm supporting an LNS, but I definitely understand what you're saying about getting in to the actual shop. My closest one is over an hour away when the Atlanta traffic is in my favor. I need to make a point to get in there- and the coffee on the drive home sounds wonderful. 💕

Mary you bring up an excellent point! Shopping small is always a key driving force for me and the beauty of so many stores having an online presence is that you can support your favorite small business even from afar (which also supports the artist the show bought the items from). Win win!

The coffee is the best part 😉 my the traffic gods & odds be ever in your favor the next time you make a maiden voyage to your LNS.

Thank you for being here! 🩵
