“For me the only things of interest are those linked to the heart”
-Audrey Hepburn
I’m so thrilled you are here in my little creative corner of the world. Below is a little about me and how I ended up here on your screen.
Hi! I’m Emily…
I’m a former energy industry logistics and business development coordinator who found needlepoint after the birth of my first daughter, during the throes of COVID-19. From this initial discovery bloomed a passion for the craft and an appreciation for all those who partake in it.
Created with an ever-evolving affinity for all things needlepoint, The Finishing School is a curation of my personal, finished needlepoint canvases. What started as an actual diary has evolved into the site before you - chronicling each canvas stitched along with the "why" behind each finished piece in my personal collection.
What excites me most is not just sharing my story, but rather opening up the dialogue for you to share your story.
My hope is for this site to serve as a soft landing place where you can quiet your mind and draw inspiration from my finished collection, as well as those who inspire me.
Why “The Finishing School”?
In the world of Needlepoint, a project (typically) begins with an un-stitched canvas. Once the canvas has been stitched, it is then sent off for “finishing”. The process of finishing is where the stitched canvas is transformed into a pillow, belt, ornament, frame, key fob, etc.
