The Secret Lives of Needlepoint Bags
#CrazyBagLadies Unite feat. Lillie Powell of "Stitching With Lillie"
Every needlepointer’s bag holds more than just canvases and threads—it holds pieces of our hearts and our stories. Pieces we’re eager to both show and tell. It doesn’t matter if it’s a well-loved tote, a repurposed basket, a monogrammed caryall or a polished pouch; it’s a safe haven for the moments we’ve set aside to create something meaningful. These bags protect our treasures, organize our chaos, hide our secret canvases (sorry not sorry) and remind us that our stitching is worth cherishing.
No matter where you are in your needlepoint journey, your bag is a quiet witness to the beauty you bring into the world, one stitch at a time.
Just as there are many fish in the sea, there are many bags in our world. Below you will find some of the bags Lillie and continue to reach for when it comes to our needlepoint (and even life in general). What we especially love about many of these vendors is that they are small female owned businesses. Nothing thrills us more than shopping small and supporting someone else within our community.
Join Lillie and me as we celebrate the bags that carry not just our stash but also our stories.

Walker Triple Zip Cases: These are amazing for travel and I love how the multiple zippers keep my canvas / threads / tools separate & organized
Saville Needleworks Small Ort Bowl: My favorite accessory that *always* sparks joy every single time I use it
Wipstitch Tote Bag: “My Mothership”. This lightweight tote (with a super cute pattern), fits all of my bags within bags within bags.
Embroidered Pool Bag: An elevated bag for canvases. I love to keep finished products in here to keep them flat & protected before they are sent off for finishing.
Ziploc Baggies: Cracking up that I'm even linking these, but a must obviously for any stash bags. My favorite way to store my threads for now!

Lycette Designs Vinyl Project Bags: If the shoe fits buy it in every color and the same theory applies here. The first project bag I ever bought - simple but spectacular, these are my go to bags (and make TSA / travel a breeze).
Saville Needleworks Small Ort Bowl: Also my favorite accessory that *always* adds a dash of delight to my stitching. This is the perfect gift for a needlepointing friend
LLBean Zip Top Tote Bag: It’s a classic for a reason. Tried and true, I adore my LLBean Boat & Tote for my day to day life (not just needlepoint). I love that they are still handcrafted in Maine daily.
Tigre de Tartan Satin Nylon Project Bag: A new-to-me brand, I love this bold and ultra chic logo. Great for non-needlepoint activities as well. Holds a lot and I love the peek-a-boo moment and gorgeous zipper.
Greystone Needlepoint x Lewis Custom Pouch: More fabulous branding. This bag holds a ton, is a great price point and can easily be customized with a monogram
Vera Bradley “Vera” Tote Bag: Old habits die hard. Vera Bradley bags have always been part of my lineup and I love that I can also use them for more than just needlepoint. This particular bag has tons of storage and the quality will last decades.
Super Side Note: I recently rediscovered my Vera Bradley laptop case from college (gasp) and it is perfect for storing projects! Highly recommend (there are tons on FB Marketplace, Ebay, Mercari, etc.).
